Hong Kong in a second

Okay, so I might have overstated my title but I felt that my trip to Hong Kong was too short! Despite being there for 4 days, 3 nights(April 26 to 29 exactly), I knew there was so much more food to try out and places to explore! Going to Hong Kong was a bit challenging for me because first, it was my first time to travel with my boyfriend, second of all,  it would be my first to travel to Hong Kong, and lastly, our flight was delayed. Something I was already expecting coming from Philippine Airlines. This is one reason why whenever I travel abroad, I NEVER use Philippine Airlines. We were delayed for an hour or so due to "technical difficulties". Mind you, this was an 8am flight. Although the plane was huge, I must say their food service improved from years ago when I first rode Philippine Airlines. Well I shouldn't be complaining in the first place since the trip was just an anniversary gift :D

We booked our hotel at Park Lane, i must say I really liked our hotel. If I plan another Hong Kong trip, I'm definitely staying here! Sadly, we did not get to take any pictures of our hotel room but it was spacious and comfy! We were knocked out every time we got back to the room!

Over view looking towards Causeway Bay I believe

Sadly, on our first day, we were not able to take any pictures of the yummy food we ate because I do not speak Mandarin and so does my boyfriend. We had a language barrier with the waiters in House of Jasmine, a maxim's group at Festival Walk, a mall near our hotel . Although the food was superb, it was literally one of the most challenging places to eat in unless you speak Mandarin. They forgot to punch in our orders and last minutely copied the orders beside us when we kept following up. Wish they copied the other table beside as as we were stuck with the orders of  two petite women dining in. Even if we came out angry with our tummies grumbling, I really wouldn't mind going back because the food was really good. We came out of the restaurant HUNGRY!

Being tourists that we are :D

I attacked every bakery I could find in Hong Kong, wish I took pictures of it too. I was on a hole-in-the wall bakery craze! I guess I also didn't have time to take pictures of the yummy pastries I found since I was already stuffing them in my face! At the end if this trip, I gained 7 pounds but it was all worth the 7 pounds haha! This trip was basically me eating every chance I got!!

I guess this trip made us even stronger. How cheesy:p But for first timers in Hong Kong, I recommend going to Ngong Ping 360 and going to the Buddha. It was so cold and the experience was just awesome. The temple is very accommodating and the vegetarian food is great! And don't forget to take the cable car up to the Buddha :D I really think even if the souvenirs were pricey, they're worth the memories! We bought key chains and a snow globe with our picture in the cable car :)

Something about Sugarlandia barquillos

A few months ago, my boyfriend's parents came from a wedding of a family member in Bacolod, Philippines. When they finally arrived back from the trip, we were greeted with boxes of goodies and sweets in the kitchen. Boxes full of piaya, barquillos, pastillas and other yummy sweets filled the mini boxes. Among the treats that plagued my eyesight, we had Sugarlandia's double short barquillos to try for dessert. These are crisp thinly rolled wafers, usually of vanilla flavor. Boy, let me tell you, I was never really a fan of barquillos but these were just addicting! I was always a fan of sweets but barquillos were something I never really craved for. It was the perfect combination to end a long day, most especially with a scoop of ice cream, or make it two hehe.

Once you start munching on these barquillos, you can't stop! You end up eating a whole bag to yourself! That's how good they are and that's what happened to me haha. What's great about these yummy treats is that it's not too sweet and it doesn't break easily. These barquillos are nothing fancy, but they surely are addicting. I guess it's because they're so much smaller than regular barquillos and their "double layered" meaning they don't flake out so easily, but non the less still crisp.

I knew I had to get my hands on these after my first bite! It was like love at first bite. My boyfriend's mom gave me a bag to take home, which I let my mom try at home too. She finished 3/4ths of the bag!! I had to google where I can get my hands on these goodies. It was difficult finding it online! Thank god they had their packaging label with thier phone number in the barquillos my boyfriend's mom gave me :D I had 7 boxes of these babies shipped all the way from Bacolod. All worth it :)
